This idea has been kicking around the internet for years now – taking 12 pictures on the 12th day of the month. I did my first 12 of 12 challenge back in July of 2006. There used to be a blog called Twelve of Twelve, then it just disappeared. I saw someone bring back this concept in a scrapbooking workshop last year and there seems to have been a resurgence in popularity of taking 12 photos on the 12th. I decided that this would be a great personal project for me in 2012 because I love it when those dates line up – already excited for 12-12-12!
Here’s my plan:
Take 12 photos on the 12th of each month in 2012. I’m not going to establish any rules of what I will be taking photos of, but I would like them to be representative of what my life is like on that date. I will blog about them here within a few days of the 12th of each month and also create a fast and easy mosaic using the Big Huge Labs mosaic maker tool. (see example above)
Why it will work:
I set up a recurring monthly appointment on my calendar for each month on the 12th to take 12 pictures. I also set up a recurring monthly appointment on the 13th of each month to blog about these photos and make a mosaic. I’m excited to have 12 mosaics at the end of 2012 with a total of 144 photos of my life. Great reward to work toward! For those of you who follow my blog, I’ll also post a little reminder on the 11th of each month if you want to play along.
I don’t feel like this is too much to add on to my Phone Photo a Day project and I will feel fine about including my photo of the day in my 12 photos on the 12th of the month. I’m happy to report that I’m having no trouble at all keeping up with that project and I’m having so much fun with it! You can see my daily pictures so far in this Flickr set.
If you want to do the 12 of 12 in 12 thing, be sure to keep your camera handy tomorrow!
