I’m so excited about an idea for a new twist on Ali’s annual December Daily project that came to me about a month ago! I’ve done some December Daily pages in the past, but as a digital scrapbooker, I’ve had a hard time making it “click” because I love the way Ali uses memorabilia and bits of everything in her project each year and I haven’t been doing that. It’s also been difficult to decide how my digital December Daily pages differed from what I was doing for all of my other layouts. For example; I love this layout where I recorded a December Daily memory, but it feels like it should just go in with all of my other pages in my scrapbook album for that year.

Over the past few months, I’ve been watching with great interest as some of my favorite digital scrapbookers have embraced the Becky Higgins Project Life way of scrapping. I’m especially in love with Liz’s (Paislee Press) album. However, I really have not wanted to switch to Project Life in general. I love my digi pages and I have an entire bookshelf of albums that are still waiting to be filled! Even when I found out that Project Life was coming to digital (YAY!), it’s not the style I want to use for all of my pages. BUT…. I realized that it was the perfect solution for my December Daily issue! If I combined Ali’s awesome idea of documenting the everyday of December with Becky’s approach of keeping it simple with a flexible system of page protectors and journaling cards – that would be just awesome!
I told my idea to Steph (Daily Digi) and she thought it was very doable. Then I got the chance to run it by Ali when she was a guest on The Digi Show (episode 17) and she really liked it. I placed my order that very day!
I’ve had several people ask me to share the specifics of how I plan to approach this so here goes:
BECKY STUFF
The most important ingredient for a Project Life album is the unique page protectors that Becky offers. I love the compartmentalized look and I’m really excited about the different types included in the big Variety pack I ordered.
I’m still trying to decide on the binder, but I like the look of the white signature binder that will be available in December.
I ordered the Project Life Core Kit – turquoise edition because I think the colors and patterns work well with Christmas colors. I also wanted to use some of her physical PL supplies for part of this album.
I also purchased a few digital items so I can customize some journaling cards and filler pieces. Now I’ll never run out of supplies for this album!
ALI STUFF
I’m really pleased that I will still be able to use all of Ali’s December products I’ve been collecting over the past few years. I think I have bought almost everything she has designed related to December Daily. (Actually, I think I own about 90% of her designs in general!) The great thing about these digital pieces is that I can recolor and reuse them in so many ways! Here are some of my favorites that I want to be sure to use:
Advent action cards – read Ali’s post for ideas on how to use these

Holiday Word Art Vol.2 | Holiday Word Art. Vol3
Messy Little Christmas | Holiday Title Overlays
MY PLAN
I will be sharing my album in progress here on each Tuesday in December. This means I will need to be getting pictures printed regularly (I’m not in the habit of doing that) and I will also be using my home printer for some of the journaling cards. I also have a “secret weapon” that will be sure to help me get this project done… my very own “Buddy the Elf”! My daughter LOVES Christmas and she is super excited about helping me document all the December memories. I think this will be doable and fun!
