No, I’m not talking about doing the can-can. I’m sure I can’t do the can-can. LOL!
I’m wondering if I can learn to can foods – also known as canning or preserving. This is what I’m talking about:
I’ve always made a big to-do about how I’m not going to get into things like canning. I’ve always maintained that I don’t have the time, patience, or desire to do any such thing. That has totally changed. Now that I’m more mindful of what I eat (no high-fructose corn syrup, avoiding pesticides, eating high quality foods,) it suddenly seems very appealing to preserve the delicious foods of summer to enjoy at any time of the year.
My husband was more than a little surprised when he noticed the stack of books I’ve been buying:
I’ve had a lot of fun reading through all of these and I’m definitely going to tackle some canning soon. That will be a very new thing for me and I’m sure it will warrant a scrapbook page or two.
If any of you are experienced at canning, I’d love to hear your tips or find some great websites/blogs to refer to.
