Before I say my final goodbye to May 2011, I’m going to round it up!
.
What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
May was all about finishing up homeschool and working – no time for reading anything other than textbooks, and online materials. I’m so excited for summer break now, I’m hoping to sit down with a lot of great books and magazines!
.
What movies, television shows, plays, etc. did I watch this month?
I gave up on watching Cheers reruns on Netflix and switched to Wings. Sometimes I just need a mindless show to watch at the end of the day and Wings has done the trick. I used to watch it when Alex was little while I would sit and feed him. I’m sure I’ve seen every episode at least once, but it’s been about 14 years since I saw any of them so it’s kind of fun to watch again.
Hubby and I tried watching a few episodes of Sports Night (a recommendation from a friend) but we’ve had a hard time getting into it. It one a lot of awards, but so far it’s just kind of boring. Has anyone out there watched this series? Should we stick with it?
In our house, Survivor Redemption Island was the big television event for May. I still can’t believe how we get so into that show! This was a really interesting season. I personally don’t think they should let repeats on because they have such an advantage. That said, I do think the winner worked harder than anyone for that million dollar prize so I’m ok with how it ended.
Other tv shows watched include; Mythbusters, Lemonade Mouth (made for tv movie on Disney Channel), and a few episodes of Good Luck Charlie with my kids.
We saw the new Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides movie, which we all enjoyed. You might remember that I love Captain Jack. It’s just fun to watch him in those movies! The reviews for this film have been mixed, but we all enjoyed it.
.
What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends
I went to 2 fancy dinner events with my hubby and met a lot of very nice people. We went to a birthday party for my Nephew. I hosted a dinner for Hubby’s family so we could celebrate my Mother-in-Law’s birthday and Mother’s Day.
.
What gifts did I give and/or receive?
My Mother-in-Law had a birthday and we gave her some cards and pens. We also gave her some flowers for Mother’s Day. I sent my Mom a gift card to Oscraps as a Mother’s Day gift. My nephew turned 8 and I bought him this Lego set (and one for myself as well).
.
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
A new camera and a new lens. Yes, I went a little crazy this month! Some Lego minifigures, fresh flowers, and several treats. Photography month ended up being a good excuse to buy fun things!
.
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
I had several doctor’s appointments this month. I’m having a lot of issues right now that I’m trying to figure out. Nothing too serious, I just don’t have definitive answers yet. I’m still staying off of the high-fructose corn syrup, although I slipped up a few times when eating out (and I paid the price for it later). I also gained back the few pounds I lost last month. No surprise there if you’ve been following my photostream. lol!
.
What were my accomplishments this month?
Planted a garden, helped my kids finish another year of homeschool (Woot!), blogged at The Daily Digi, blogged here, guested on the Paperclipping Digi Show podcast, opened the Power Scrapping – Digi Style workshop at Big Picture Classes, hosted a live chat at BPC for National Scrapbook Day, and somehow survived an incredibly busy month!
.
What were my disappointments this month?
My family in New Mexico had some real challenges this month and I was very worried about them.
.
Anything else noteworthy to include?
Digi layouts from May (each one is linked to where it appeared online).
