Today this girl turns 14 years old. Wow!
We had an early birthday party for her last week with some family members. I used this darling digital kit to make some easy invites.
She loves sweets and she loves France so we went with a Patisserie Party theme. I didn’t make a single thing for the event. Yes, I bought it all and it was well worth it! I figured that I could have spent 2 days baking, or else I could spend 2 hours running around and still have time for homeschool, so I chose the latter. Plus, it gave us an excuse to splurge at The Sweet Tooth Fairy!
I only ate one of these cupcakes (the coconut one) and it might have been the best cupcake I’ve ever had. Yum!
I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on decorations. I told Riley that I would rather buy her something she could actually use. Can you believe I’m calling this wire Eiffel Tower purchase a practical thing? lol! Seriously though, we got it at Hobby Lobby (using a coupon) and my plan is to spray paint it and put it in her room. It has lots of loops and hooks on it and I think it will make a perfect jewelry storage/display piece. I promise to share it here when we are done with it.
I used the Wilton stacking display tower. Really clever! Cupcakes and French Macarons from Sweet Tooth Fairy. Cream Puffs and Éclairs from our local grocery store. Donuts and mini vanilla wafers for my nieces, nephew, and son, who don’t like frosting and creamy stuff.
We had baguette slices, assorted cheesed (brie, gouda, baby swiss) and water crackers. Two colors of grapes, fresh strawberries, and giant marshmallows that could all be dipped in chocolate fondue or eaten on their own. I thought I was quite the creative genius for putting the marshmallows in the fancy jar. :) We also set out some Pepperidge Farm Pirouette cookies which my kids are always begging me to buy.
We set up the table in our basement, hence the poor lighting in the photo), used a pink plastic tablecloth, and put up a small garland of black and white pom pom yarn. We dimmed the lights for the party and turned on some electric candles. My daughter downloaded some French music and set up her ipod to play in the background. Pretty fancy party for a small family gathering. She was thrilled though, and that’s what it is all about.
Happy Birthday sweet girl! I love you so much!
