Feels so good to get my roundup done, it's a great way to recap the past month and it helps me feel ready to face the new month of memories to come! Can you believe I’ve been doing these monthly “roundups” since January of 2006?
Here's what my June of 2010 was all about:
What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
Remember how I said I was going to do a ton of reading once I had a break from our homeschool program? Yeah, well… that hasn’t happened so far. In June I mostly read through cookbooks and browsed through magazines. Nothing too noteworthy, except for finding these 2 awesome cookbooks:
I love the Flat Belly Diet books. Great recipes and a really healthy eating plan. I just need to follow it more often! Of course it doesn’t help that I buy cookbooks like this one:
I know! Why does someone who NEEDS to be on the Flat Belly diet buy a book like this one? I can’t help it I guess! I love to bake and I read a review of this book and it sounded neat. I’ve actually learned some great baking tips from this and I’ve enjoyed reading the text and stories a lot. Totally glad I purchased it, even if my waistline isn’t. LOL!
What movies, television shows, plays, etc. did I watch this month?
The highlight of the month was going to Toy Story 3. LOVED it! If you haven’t seen it, you really should!
What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?
My parents and brothers came for a visit. They all live in New Mexico, so it was nice to see them again. Went photowalking with my Mom when she was here for a visit. Hubby and I went to a church party and played Apples to Apples with some friends. We had a family party with my Hubby’s family to celebrate Father’s Day and my Brother-in-Law’s birthday.
What gifts did I give and/or receive?
We gave my Father-in-Law and Brother-in-Law itunes gift cards. We gave my Dad an Amazon gift card for his birthday/Father’s Day. Hubby had a birthday but I haven’t gotten him anything yet because we are going to shop together for his gift. Took dinners to a friend who had a baby, and another neighbor who had some cancer removed from her leg.
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
Well, I went shopping so much that my bank called. True story! I also bought the Toy Story Lego train set for my our collection.
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
Still dealing with the finger thing. The progress is incredibly slow! I went to physical therapy 8 times in the month of June and the doctor one time. I’m still having a lot of pain and my motion is still somewhat limited. I’m also frustrated at how weak my hand is, and I still struggle with tying my own shoes and opening packages and jars. Anything that takes 2 hands is difficult. Typing is ok, and the therapist said it is actually good for my hand so that is good. :) I really need to take some update pictures and do a scrapbook page or two about the whole ordeal I guess.
What were my accomplishments this month?
Lots of blogging here and at The Daily Digi (see my list of articles) despite my hand recovery issues. I scrapped 12 layouts (see below), was a guest on the Paperclipping Digi Show (episodes 1 and 5),
What were my disappointments this month?
When my husband, son, and I were on the freeway one evening (my daughter was at camp), we were rear-ended by a big pickup truck. The damage was not too bad, and most importantly, we were safe. It was very scary though. I already have a huge issue with freeway anxiety though ever since I was rear-ended on the freeway a few years ago. That one caused a lot more damage, but no one was hurt then either. I’m avoiding the freeways as much as possible these days. And yes, Utah drivers are crazy! Sorry, but it’s true.
How did I do on my goals for the month? (Or any current short or long term goals)
Accomplished several things on our summer “to do” lists. Only worked on about half of my goals. Now that the year is half over, I better get motivated about these again!
Anything else noteworthy to include
Here are the layouts I completed in June. Each image is linked to the original blog post from either my own blog here, the Shabby Princess blog, or The Daily Digi if you want to see credits or details for each creation.
Have you done your roundup yet? Don't wait too long! You will be so glad you took the time to roundup your month!
