This will be the first year in my entire life that I will not see anyone from my family at Christmas time. I didn't spend last Christmas with my family either, but my parents did drive up for a visit a few days after and rang in the New Year with us. Right now I'm not sure when I will see my parents or my 2 brothers next. My guess is it will be sometime in the spring? We did get to see all of them last month though so that helps a lot.
Having family out of town means that presents need to be mailed. It was a big relief for me when I had everything packaged up and turned it all over to the post office. Of course I will feel even better when I know the boxes have safely arrived at their destination. I do wish I could see their reactions when they open them, but I know they will be well received. Perhaps that is how Santa feels each year as well.
