gotta love a day that means even your veggies are covered in marshmallows!
Technically, this is a "rerun" post since I originally shared this prompt back in November of 2006. If you have been with me that long, I hope you will forgive the duplicate. I did tweak it a bit. It's still a great little way to document the details of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Thanksgiving Twenty
Do you cook all or part of the meal?
Going to my in-laws this year. My daughter will help with the cooking.
How much do you spend buying groceries for the meal?
see above. I spend plenty on groceries for every other day though. lol!
Do you eat at home or go to someone else's?
always someone else's,(either my parents or hubby's parents) I have never hosted a Thanksgiving on my own.
Describe your perfect bite?
biting into homemade rolls with butter.
White meat or dark?
either is fine with me.
Stuffing with giblets or without?
Definitely without.
Anything you won't eat at the Thanksgiving meal?
Brussel sprouts (my mom loves them) and pumpkin pie which totally grosses me out. I don't mind pumpkin cake or cookies, but I don't like the texture of pumpkin pie.
Carve Mr. Gobble at the table of serve on a platter?
Platter
Favorite pie?
anything but pumpkin or mince. I don't like either one. Pecan is one of my favorites.
Formal table or Chinet?
My father-in-law loves to set a very formal table with china and more utensils than one could possibly use. My own family is semi-formal with nice dishes and centerpieces, but no china.
Your menu?
Very traditional: Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, cranberries, rolls, relish plate, several types of pie.
Favorite leftover?
pie!
Extended family, friends, both or just immediate family for dinner?
Depends on which family's house we go to. There are always some extended family and friends at my in-laws. When we go to my family's house it is usually immediate family.
After dinner, do you go to the latest movie or football on TV?
Hubby watches football on tv, but he is the only one who does. The rest of us just visit and/or nap. When we go to my family's house we play board games.
Do you watch the Macy's parade?
My daughter has watched it faithfully each year. My son has become interested in it the last few years.
Christmas decorations up before or after?
After
Black Friday shopping or sleep in?
Sleep in. I don't like crowds so I avoid Black Friday altogether. The only way I shop on Black Friday is online. Hubby always tries to talk me into going out. He likes the challenge.
Any special Thanksgiving tradition?
Just sharing what we are thankful for.
Favorite thing about Thanksgiving?
A day to be thankful.
Favorite Thanksgiving memory?
The year that we all sat down to a very fancy table at my in-laws and my brother-in-law accidentally broke the chair when he sat down. He is such a funny guy anyway so I loved the way he dealt with it. I think every holiday dinner needs something like that to break the tension. lol!
Feel free to copy and paste this set of questions to use on your own blog and/or scrapbook page. It is a quick and easy way to document the details of this day. Happy Thanksgiving!
