Finished my monthly roundup! I have been doing this every month for almost 4 years now. You can read more about roundups right here.
What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
I read homeschool assignments, online class materials, blog posts, online news, and even some magazines, but sadly, no books. I’ve got a stack of books I want to read but I just haven’t had any time lately. I'm not sure if I've ever had a month where I didn't read any books! Going back through my past roundups...Ok I went through the same thing last September, looks like I need to be better about reading in the fall. I think I just get overwhelmed with homeschool at this time of year.
What movies, television shows, plays, etc. did I watch this month?
Hubby and I enjoyed watching Burn Notice on DVD. Lots of Halloween shows on The Disney Channel with my kids, especially Wizards of Waverly Place. We all watched and played a ton of Beatles Rock Band on the Wii - so fun! I love games that we can all play together and it's fun to pretend you're a rock star. ;)
What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?
We went to the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City and my hubby ran the St. George marathon. We got to hang out with friends in St. George so that was a lot of fun as well. We celebrated my son's 16th birthday and had hubby's family over for a Beatles Rock Band party. We had a friend over for dinner and had a wonderful visit. We went to the local pumpkin patch to pick out our own pumpkins. My daughter dressed up as a chef for Halloween. My hubby dressed up as Julius Caesar for work. Alex and I skipped the costume thing this year.
What gifts did I give and/or receive?
Beatles Rock Band for my son's birthday. That was a big one!
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
I guess it was a pretty typical month in this category, nothing out of the ordinary except for the birthday gifts for my son.
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
I continued to have problems with my left index finger and I had to go and see a specialist. He diagnosed me with trigger finger and gave me a very painful shot of cortisone. I got some relief from that for about a week and then the pain and stiffness was back. I'm going to have to have minor surgery on it in November. Typing and digi scrapping have been more difficult and painful for me, but I seem to have still been able to do quite a bit of both. Took both of my kids to the orthodontist to have their braces tightened (wires changed) and there was a great deal of trauma involved for both of them (and me!) I also had a cavity filled at the dentist.
What were my accomplishments this month?
I made it through a very busy month! I had an article published in the MSA Flourish newsletter, and I started writing a regular article each week for The Daily Digi. I wrote about Writing On Your Photos, Straightening Crooked Photos, and my Monthly Roundup idea. I was thrilled to be featured on Ali Edwards blog for a Tuesday Tutorial post on 10 Tips for Templates! I marked my 4 year "blog-i-versary" by blogging about it. I had a scrapbook layout published in The Salt Lake Tribune which also had a little bio about me. I helped my daughter sew an apron and I made myself a skirt. I was selected as a host for a Martha Stewart House Party.
I completed 25 layouts (I'm counting 2 page spreads as 2 layouts) This might one of my most productive scrapbooking months ever which is sort of amazing considering my whole finger injury thing! Each image is linked to the original blog post if you want to see credits or details.
Have you done your roundup yet? You don't have to include pictures and links like I have, just take a few minutes to look over the past month and jot down a few details. You will be so glad you did!
