When I saw these doodles by Stephanie2 in this month's Digi Files
I knew I had the perfect picture in my files to use.
I think this picture was taken in 1999. I love seeing my kids helping their Grandpa blow out the many candles on his cake. I hope I always remember to be grateful for each and every candle on my birthday cakes. I want to truly enjoy each age of my life.
My Memory Monday reminder for you today is to simply make an effort to enjoy the age you are at. If you are able to take a few minutes out of your day, it would be wonderful for you to write down the things you enjoy about the age that you are right now. I'll show you my quick list of what I like about being 40 years old.
- Life is generally more stable for us at this stage. We've been married more than 18 years so we understand each other a lot better now. I've always loved my husband, but I love him even more now that we've had a chance to grow up together a little more.
- I like having kids who are amazing people. It is wonderful to hear their opinions and ideas on life and to teach them and learn from them. Little kids are awfully cute, but it's nice that big kids let you sleep through the night (most of the time), and I love watching them become more independent.
- I feel much more comfortable in my own skin at this age. I used to worry a lot more about what others thought when I was younger. I know I can always improve, but I'm generally happy with who I am and the direction my life is taking.
- I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said I'd rather be 40 than pregnant and I had to laugh. I know some ladies choose (or not) to have babies after 40 but we are done adding to our family for a variety of reasons and I feel comfortable and happy with that. I guess that's the part that I'm most happy about - the fact that I'm at peace with what life has given us and I feel so blessed to have the 2 wonderful children that I do have.
