Feels so good to get my roundup done. I haven't missed a month since I started doing this in January of 2006. Yay me!
What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
I've still been enjoying some of my favorites from childhood. Young Adult fiction can be fun for grownups also.
What movies, television shows, plays, etc. did I watch this month?
I didn't watch a lot of tv this month but we did go to 2 plays at the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, Utah. We saw the musical of Secret Garden (which was a disappointment compared to the book) and we saw Comedy of Errors which was one of the best plays I have seen at the Festival.
What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?
We had a 4th of July barbeque get-together with several of our friends and had a great time. Everyone's kids played together, there was a ton of great food, and a pretty impressive little fireworks show. Good times.
Went miniature golfing with hubby and the kids.
We spent 2 days in Cedar City as a family at the Shakespeare Festival (see above) and then we joined hubby's family for 7 days in St. George, Utah. It was pretty hot there, but we still had fun. We went to a Dinosaur Museum, played games, and went shopping and swimming.
On our road trip, I taught a set of "school of rock" lessons. I downloaded influential and important songs in the history of rock and roll and did a lot of research to go with these songs. As my hubby drove to St. George, I told the kids about the history of rock and roll starting in 1950. We got up to 1974. We will need to finish up on another long car trip sometime after I do some more research. Hands down, this was our favorite part of the vacation. My kids loved it and we all learned quite a bit and enjoyed some great music!
What gifts did I give and/or receive?
We gave 1 wedding gift. July is one of the few months where we don't have any family birthdays on either side.
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
A lot of vacation expenses, including an unexpected car repair bill. I actually bought some new clothes for myself and found quite a few cute things all on sale. Very rare for me! I also signed up for Cathy Zielske's upcoming Big Picture Scrapbooking Class. Went to 2 kitchen stores and loaded up on non-essential fun stuff for me and my fabulous chef daughter to use.
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
Some tummy trouble a few days ago. Could be bad food, or a touch of the flu? I think it was just the culmination of a lot of bad food choices over the course of a few days. When will I ever learn? Had to take my son to several doctor's appointments including a full physical where he had to have 2 shots. We are also in the process of adjusting my son's OCD medication so July was a bit of a hard month for him.
What were my accomplishments this month?
Took a doodling class, blogged every single day, coordinated a collaborative kit at NDISB, and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of The Daily Digi team. Enjoyed my kids - we went swimming, watched Bugs Bunny, played games, and just hung out.
What were my disappointments this month?
Didn't get as much done as I hoped to, summer is going too fast! Didn't lose any weight.
Anything else noteworthy to include?
I decided to retire as a digital designer. This was a tough decision and I can tell already that I will miss it in a lot of ways. I do feel really good about the decision though and know it is the right thing for me and my family at this time.
I completed several layouts in July
