This is my roundup for the month of May 2009
What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
TONS of homeschool related reading. I did read this fun little book cover to cover and really enjoyed it. Utah is a fascinating place. They actually have these Curiosities books for some other states as well. I had fun reading a scrapbooking mystery by Laura Childs called "Death Swatch".
What movies, television shows, plays, etc. did I watch this month?
Watched some Disney Channel shows with the kids (Sonny with a Chance and Hannah Montana) and we actually watched the whole series (Original episodes) of Scooby Doo Where Are You? Yes, they are all pretty much the same, but we still enjoyed them. Of course I watched the LOST finale and I can't believe we have to wait until January 2010 to see more! We also went to 3 movies in the theater which might be a record for us. We saw Star Trek, Night at the Museum 2, and UP. We liked all of them but UP was my very favorite.
What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?
We went out to dinner with 2 other couples, went to a neighborhood party, attended a cast party for the play we were in, and went to a family birthday party for my nephew who turned 6 years old. I did Muffin Tin Monday with my kids each week, and made up a cookie recipe with my daughter. We also drove to Goshen, Utah where we said goodbye to my hubby's cousin who will be going to California for two years to serve a LDS mission.
We even went on a mini vacation to Park City, Utah for a night where we shopped, went swimming, and just relaxed. It is amazing what even one day away can do to help you restore and rejuvenate!
Some of the not-so-fun, but still significant events included: attending the funeral for my hubby's grandmother (his Father's side) and helping with a funeral luncheon for a lady who passed away in our neighborhood.
What gifts did I give and/or receive?
Gave my nephew some Legos for his birthday. Sent my Mom a gift card to Shabby Princess for Mother's Day and gave my MIL a fancy water bottle and back massager. Sent my brother a box of treats and some cash for his birthday since he is a missionary in California.
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
New dishes from Target. I did more shopping than I've done in a long time. I really don't like to shop, especially for clothes and shoes, but everyone was low on stuff that fit and looked good so we went shopping at the Outlet Mall in Park City and did quite well there. We really enjoyed a visit to the Olympics museum as well.
We also bought a sleep number bed but it hasn't been delivered yet so I can't tell you if it was worth the big bucks or not. Hopefully it is!
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
Everyone was pretty healthy all month. Hooray!
What were my accomplishments this month?
This was a very heavy month for me and I feel like it was a real accomplishment to get through it! We spent 2 days doing state testing because of the homeschool virtual academy we are in. This was very stressful for all of us and a great relief when it was over. We also had online scantron tests to complete that compared where my kids were at the beginning of the year to where they are now. We finished up all coursework and finals for both my son and daughter. They really did great and I can't believe how much they learned this year. (me too) I also can't believe how tired I am now! LOL
I had my first article published in the Flourish Newsletter from My Scrapbook Art and I was invited to be a part of The Daily Digi Team. I'm so happy about both of these opportunities!
I took a photography class from Candice Stringham at jessicasprague.com and learned sooooo much about photography!
I joined Weight Watchers online and I lost 5 pounds.
I started an email recipe exchange club for the ladies in my neighborhood and I put together all the recipes and sent them out. This will be a monthly activity for me so I will write more about it at a later time.
I designed 90 new papers to go with my Scrap System line. I also had one of my best months in sales as a designer in a long time. (thank you!)
I even found the time (somewhere) to scrap quite a bit. I think it was what kept me going!
Have you done your roundup yet? You don't have to include pictures and links like I have, just take a few minutes to look over the past month and jot down a few details. You will be so glad you did!
