Many creative people suggest keeping a notebook handy at all times to jot down your creative ideas. Writers, artists, scrapbookers, interior designers, photographers, and even business executives can all benefit from keeping track of the projects they want to do or the ideas that inspire them. I do believe this is a great practice but I have to admit I have never been good at it. Sometimes I start using any old paper or notebook I can find and then I end up with a bunch of loose papers to organize so I give up. I've even bought special notebooks just for this purpose but then I feel all this pressure to make the notebook into something amazing and I don't ever even write in the thing. I know I should just get over it!
So where do I keep track of my creative ideas? I've been able to rely on my brain to host many of them but truthfully, I know that isn't a reliable filing system. I bet I forget more than half of the great ideas I come up with. Sometimes I type up lists on my computer which seems to be a better system for me. Mostly, I just bookmark sites that go along with a creative thought and hope I will get back to them someday. Of course not all the ideas that inspire me are found on my computer. What about magazine articles? What about the things I just see around town or a thought that pops into my head? I need help in this area and I'm starting to realize that more and more. I have so many topics I want to cover on my blog, include in my albums, and try in my everyday life. How will I ever remember all of them?
Today's Memory Monday is going to be about finding a way to keep track of ideas. If you have any suggestions for me I would LOVE to hear them! I will share them with my readers next Monday so this will be a 2 part Memory Monday.
How do you keep track of your creative thoughts? How does this help you to achieve your creative goals?
