I'm anxious to get my roundup done because I never really feel ready to let the next month into my life until I've properly finished the prior one. I'm one month shy of doing roundups for 3 years straight now and it has become a habit. A habit that I rely on to keep my life organized and ready to scrap. So here goes!
November 2008
What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
I read Anne of Green Gables with my daughter. It was a joy to reread a favorite book from my childhood and I enjoyed it very much. I also read (or rather listened to) Thank You Power by Deborah Norville which was a great book as well. It felt good to fill my spare time with such positive books. I also got a great new cookbook that I've enjoyed. We have tried 4 recipes from it so far and they have all been good and very easy to prepare!
What movies and/or tv shows did I watch this month?
I watched Iron Man which I actually enjoyed. Robert Downey Jr. is so talented and it was nice to see him do so well. I really liked his character and it was just one of those fun and improbable stories (a bit violent though). We took the kids to see Bolt which I also enjoyed - cute characters and story. We watched Brian Regan’s Epitome of Hyperbole which was very funny and we re-watched another one of his specials called “Standing Up”. He is a great comic and we’ve been quoting him all month around here.
What special days did I celebrate and how?
We went to Albuquerque, New Mexico for Thanksgiving where we got to visit most of my family. We stayed with my parents along with one of my brothers. (My other brother is on a mission in Fresno, California). We had a lot of fun and gained a couple of pounds because of my Mom’s wonderful cooking. We spent Thanksgiving Day eating a huge turkey and playing games together. We also did a little shopping in Old Town on Black Friday and we went to my favorite store in Albuquerque and purchased a new nativity set.
What gifts did I give and/or receive?
Amazingly, there were no birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, or any other gift giving occasion in November!
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
I had a cyst removed from inside of my mouth. Other than that I was healthy.
What fun things did I do with my friends and/or family?
The trip to Albuquerque was a big highlight of the month.
We also got really into the elections and had fun watching the results on Election Day. The weather was nice for a lot of the month so I was able to go on several afternoon walks with my kids.
What new foods, recipes or restaurants did I try this month?
Well, since we went to New Mexico we had a lot of green chiles. The state question there is “red or green?” and they put chiles on everything! We had hamburgers with green chiles, pizza with green chiles, potato chip dip with green chiles and my brother made us his special posole.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries recently opened up in Utah and we ate there twice. Their fries are so yummy!
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
We bought a new toilet. How exciting is that? Not very!
I may have broken some new personal records on Digital Scrapbooking Day but we won't talk about that. LOL!
What were this month's disappointments?
I think any weight I might have lost at the beginning of the month was regained over the last week of pigging out on Thanksgiving weekend so I ended the month a pound heavier than I entered it. I’m hoping I can make it through December without gaining.
What were my accomplishments this month?
November was very productive for me. I got my house in good order and reorganized my studio a bit (pictures coming soon) and even cleaned the storage room! I also did quite a bit of yardwork. Homeschool was a success and we accomplished a lot there.
I also had one of my most productive scrapbooking months ever. I completed 39 layouts! I had a good designing month as well with my new Christmas kit and my new scrap system.
