Day 7 of my 24 days of Holiday Inspiration series
We went to IKEA on Saturday and we bought some tables for my husband's office here at home. We are calling them a Christmas present and hubby and I usually do something like that when it comes to holiday gift giving. We just pick out something together and call it good. I'm not sure what I'm getting yet but it's nice that we work on it as a team. Maybe that sounds anti-holiday spirit to some of you but it feels just fine to us. We usually just give each other a little gift or fill each other's stockings for Christmas day so the kids see that we are giving each other something thoughtful. Of course for many years that was all we did because we didn't have any money to do otherwise. Any money we could scrape together for gifts went to kids and family. We still like to keep it simple, but it's nice that we can do something a little bigger for each other nowadays.
So I guess today is all about shopping. Love it or hate it, it's part of the holiday experience! I have several favorite stores and websites that I go to each year.
My number one shopping stop is amazon.com for sure. I love that the packages are delivered right to my doorstep and the kids can't tell what they are getting, they just know it's something from amazon and that could be anything! The rule in my house is that if a box comes after mid-November, I'm the one who has to open it. I honestly don't know what I would do without amazon, especially now that both of my kids are always with me and I don't have time to shop while they go to school. (We homeschool using an online virtual academy)
What I don't order from amazon, I usually buy at my local Target store. I'm no high society shopper, I just love to keep it simple. I despise mall shopping in general and crowds make me crazy so I do most of my shopping early and online. I've also found great gifts at IKEA, Office Max, and Best Buy in the past as well. Specialty and local shops are also a fun place to find unique gifts to give.
Where do you shop for holiday gifts?
