Today I've been looking through pictures from past Christmas seasons and it has been a fun and sentimental trip down memory lane. I'm working on a project that I will show you tomorrow but this has also been a great exercise to help me appreciate the past and learn from it as well.
The photo in the layout above was taken in 1996 and I had no idea that a week after Christmas my 3 year old son would be diagnosed with autism. This photo was taken with a film camera so I had no idea if it worked out until I got the pictures back from the developer. I remember being so disappointed that I had so many bad shots. What I didn't realize then was that this photo would become one I would treasure.
As I've looked through the photos from years past, I barely remember what presents were exchanged. I do remember the people I shared the memories with though.
Dig through some of your old Christmas or holiday photos for a few minutes and reflect on what you did right during those celebrations. Don't focus too much on the negative, just learn from it and move on. Decide how your past will shape what you want the present to be this season.
I'll be back with a fun idea for those past photos in my next post.
