What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
A little book called "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" – you might have heard of it. I read it the weekend it came out and now I'm listening to it with my hubby and kids.
Listened to "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" to review before Book 7 came out.
Read "The Seven Principles for Making a Marriage Work" with my hubby. This made my son really nervous because he thought it meant we were getting divorced – poor guy! We had to explain it is ok to learn more about marriage even if you have a good one. It really is a great book and I love the conversations it has led us to have. It has also reaffirmed to both of us that we have a very good relationship.
What movies and/or tv shows did I watch this month?
We are still way into watching Alias on DVD. We finished season 2 and I have to say that might be the most memorable season ender I have ever seen! We are about half way through season 3 right now and we are really enjoying it.
We went to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix with our kids, my father-in-law and my sister-in-law and brother-in-law. It was fun to see but I always prefer the books over the movie.
Hairspray was a super fun movie and I'm really glad we went to see that in the theater.
My hubby and son saw Transformers and my son says "it is the best movie EVER!"
The Shakespeare Festival was a big highlight for us this month. I guess I should include live theater in this category. I have nothing but respect and admiration for actors who can do live theater, they are so talented! I actually did not see any Shakespeare plays this year ( a first for me at the festival) but I did go to Lend Me a Tenor: the musical and Matchmaker. Hubby and my son went to King Lear.
What special days did I celebrate and how?
The 4th of July is the only one I can think of. We went to my in-laws for an early dinner and watched the kids all play in the wading pool and on the inflatable water slide.
What gifts did I give and/or receive?
Everyone in both of our families is born in the first 6 months of the year except for my own kids so I'm always a bit relieved when July rolls around and there are no birthdays.
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
Both my daughter and I got ear infections and had to get treated with antibiotics.
What fun things did I do with my friends and/or family?
My husband and son went to Scout Camp for 4 days so my daughter and I hung out and had some girl time. Unfortunately she was sick for most of it so we just bummed around and watched the Disney Channel and kid movies.
What new foods, recipes or restaurants did I try this month?
This is one category I always vow to improve on each month but never seem to. I'm so bored with food right now. I need to try some new recipes.
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
We started our basement refinishing project so we have made a lot of purchases for that including a toilet, bathroom accessories, framing and electrical work. We have picked out carpet but haven't ordered it yet. Bought a new bed frame for my daughter's room and a new bedspread.

We are only partway done with the room. We installed her new shelves in June and did the bed in July. I am hoping that we can paint an accent wall and get some accessories in August. I'm spreading it out for financial reasons but it has been a good way to do it because we have changed our vision for the room a few times.
We are going to frame this picture that my daughter painted of our bunny. She is really talented! She did get a little help from her Grandma but she is truly an artist.
We will pull colors from this painting for some of the accessories.
What were this month's disappointments?
Our basement project was supposed to go much faster than it has. With everyone's vacations (including our own) and some mistakes, we have sort of gotten stuck for now.
What were my accomplishments this month?
A good month for accomplishments for me. I found out that I will have a layout published in a December issue of a magazine which is very exciting! I have not been published for several years and I have hardly submitted anything since then. I decided to give it a try and sent in a few things a few weeks ago and just found out about having a layout accepted. This will be my first digital page to be published.
I completed 25 layouts (including a cd mini album) and I did layouts for the creative teams I am a part of (Shabby Princess and Miriam Lima). I also participated in the Amazing Digi Scrapping Race with my partner Rona.
The other day my mom was asking how many total digi layouts I have done so I decided to go through my old roundups and figure out a total. Since I started digi scrapping in April of 2005 I have created a total of 489 digital layouts!
Breakdown of my digi scrapping:
130 layouts so far in 2007
289 layouts in 2006
70 layouts in 2005
The smallest number of layouts I did in one month's time was 8, the most I have ever done in a month is 41 layouts.
Another accomplishment this month was the big journal project I was in charge of. So glad to have that finished!
I hosted 4 Wordy Wednesday challenges (and I will be posting the new one later today) and I did 30 blog entries on this blog. Oh, and I just noticed this today
Can you believe I'm almost up to 100,000 blog visits?! I will have to do something fun to celebrate the big 100,00 event! Any guesses on when I will get there?
Anything else noteworthy to record?
My Dad got a big promotion and was transferred from Albuquerque, New Mexico to El Paso, Texas. He has already moved there (on weekdays) and now my Mom and brother are left to sell the house. However, my brother is getting ready to go on a LDS mission to Fresno California where he will specifically be working with the Hmong people and learning their language. He leaves on October 17 th. Sort of a crazy time for my family and all of that happened in July!
I took the entire month of July off from homeschooling my son and we will start back up later on in August at the same time my daughter goes back to public school. We did get all of our books and I'm working on getting organized for the coming year.
So that's my month all rounded up - hope you take a few minutes to do your own roundup!
