June was a great month for our family so this should be a fun roundup to do!
What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
The Rule of Four - which was just ok
Tons of stuff for homeschool
Memory Makers, Digital Scrapbooking, Simple Scrapbooks, Everyday Food, and Better Homes and Gardens Magazines
Started reading Arabian Nights to my kids - we are really enjoying it
Started reading iWoz which is pretty interesting so far.
Listened to Book 1 and Book 2 of Harry Potter series again to get brushed up for the big Book 7 release in July. I'm still debating whether I should order Book 7 from amazon or go to the midnight party at Barnes and Noble. Amazon said it will deliver on release date and you get a $5 coupon to spend in August. But it is the last one and the party thing seems sort of fun. I know if I get the book at midnight though, I WILL stay up all night and read and my kids will want to also! I would love to hear what everyone else is planning to do on this.
What movies and/or tv shows did I watch this month?
Hubby and I finished season 1 of Alias and are about halfway through season 2. We are really enjoying it! I guess this helps ease the pain that LOST season 3 is not being released until December 11th! I don't know why they wouldn't release it in time for us to get caught up before season 4 starts - seems like a dumb marketing move to me. I should really write a letter about this!
We went to the Nancy Drew movie which hubby and I found to be very boring but our daughter loved it and now wants to read the Nancy Drew books, so that is a good result.
I took the kids to Ratatouille and we really enjoyed it. Not quite the caliber of Toy Story or Nemo but still a really cute movie.
What special days did I celebrate and how?
We have a lot of special days in June in our family. My Dad, brother-in-law and hubby all have June birthdays so when combined with Father's Day that equals a lot of presents for men! My in-laws celebrated their 40th anniversary and we had a family dinner for them. My daughter finished the 4th grade in public school and my son finished his 7th grade year of homeschool.
We also went to my nephew's 4th birthday party (his birthday was in May)
What gifts did I give and/or receive?
Fishing stuff for brother-in-law, Transformer Jeep for nephew, gift certificates for Dads, nothing yet for hubby - he hasn't decided what he wants! I did get him this "law school in a box" for Father's Day since he had to go to court for a company lawsuit. Sort of a funny inside joke with us because he was in school for 10 years of our 16 years of marriage and he mentioned that he might like to go to law school. I told him to have a good time and to look me up when he was done! Thankfully, he changed his mind! LOL!
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
Just the usual weight and blood sugar issues. I did do better during the month of June though so that is progress.
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
These shelves for my daughter's room. I ordered them unfinished and painted them to match the trim in her room. We hung them along the top of her room (she has high ceilings) so it turned out really cute and cleared up a lot of space! Here are some photos:
frames, paper, and strong stamp by Katie Pertiet of Designer Digitals - heart by Kate Hadfield of Lily Pad
I haven't even dared count how many animals are on those shelves! There is actually room for a few more but hubby did not appreciate me pointing that out. LOL!
Besides the shelves, we had a VERY expensive month. We put a big down payment on getting the rest of our basement finished. The plan is to get started sometime this week so I'm getting pretty excited! We also had some landscaping done in our backyard and planted some trees and bushes.
What were this month's disappointments?
I would say my only dissapointment this month was how tired I have been the last week or two. I don't know why summer is making me so sleepy!
What were my accomplishments this month?
Completed 41 digital layouts including an entire album about my blog!
Hosted 4 Wordy Wednesday challenges on The Digi Shoppe Blog
Added 10 new products to my shoppe
Completed layouts for Shabby Princess and Miriam Lima Creative Teams
