Reading blogs can cost you money! Now the actual reading of blogs is free...but you see stuff you just have to have and well, you know how it goes!
I saw this post last month by Janet and I knew I had to do this! I am so tired of scanning photos. Actually I wouldn't even mind doing that if they didn't end up with specks of dust and such even though I am meticulous about cleaning my photos and scanner first!
I chose the prepaid box which made the most sense since you don't have to pay shipping. They send you the box, you fill it up with photos and send it to them. They scan the photos and send it all back with a dvd filled with your photos! I ordered the large box but I probably would have been fine with the medium one. They said the large box holds up to 1600 photos and I had around 1300 in mine. I didn't count them - that was the count that came back on the invoice. When I read Janet's post she was able to get about 2000 photos in her box so she really got her money's worth.
If saving all that time scanning and saving to your hard drive isn't enough to entice you, let me show you some examples. These pictures are all at least 8 -12 years old. Note the ones with a lot of dark background space - there are no little specks of dust on these!
I just love this picture of my son! He was about 2 years old but this picture is not one I remember. I borrowed some photos from my Mother-in-law to scan and found this treasure!
This has always been one of my favorite pictures. This was pre-digital and I actually shot this with black and white film.
This is when my son first came home from the hospital. Pretty big for a newborn isn't he? And so jaundiced. Poor guy! My brother is holding him for the first time. My youngest brother is only 5 years older than my son.
this amazing photo is from one of hubby's business trips to Japan.
I'm so excited to have more than 1300 "new" photos to digi scrap with! I would wholeheartedly recommend this service! And a note to my Mom... You NEED to do this because then I will have thousands more photos to play with! LOL!
http://www.scanmyphotos.com/ - it takes about 2 days for them to send you the box. There are instructions on the site about how to pack the box. You send it back and in about a week it returns with all your photos scanned. So cool!
