I was "tagged" by Michelle at Scrapablilty for the "Be Original" blog project. I was quite honored to have been chosen for this by Michelle because she is someone who I truly consider to be an "original" and I frequent her blog because of her fresh content and no-nonsense approach to summing up the latest happenings in the scrapbook world.
I guess what made me the happiest about all of this was Michelle's reason for tagging me and a few others, she said that "because mainly these ladies are are quite good at keeping up with their blogs, and their blogs are bytes of their family and everyday lives rather than just a promo blog for their new wares." I consider that to be a great compliment and it is truly what I strive to do when I blog here. Thanks Michelle!
Without further ado...
From the Be Original Blog Project
5 to 10 methods you use to create original posts.
Discuss my daily life. You just can't get more original than that one - lol! One of the things I enjoy about reading other blogs is the small "peek" you get into what daily life is like for someone else. It is amazing how different (yet similar) we all are! Sometimes I worry that I am boring other with the mundane antics of my world, but those seem to be the posts when I get the most comments.
...
Post Layouts. Um, I do call myself "Katie the Scrapbook Lady" so I think my readers probably like to see some scrapbooking in action! When I share my creations I am (hopefully) putting ideas out there for others to enjoy and use. Sometimes the layout itself will become the subject of the post. Would you like to see some layouts right now? You would? Good, because I'm going to post some!
...
Read blogs. I guess this isn't really all that original if I have to go looking for ideas to copy, but I find a lot of inspiration and creative sparks from reading what others have to say. I went into this a little more during yesterday's interview. I find a lot of links this way and it is always easy to come up with a blog topic after I make my "rounds".
...
Pick a category. I have a list of "categories" or topics on the sidebar of my blog. I try to make each blog listing fit with at least one of those subjects each time if possible. This simple approach helps me keep my blog useful and relevant. It also makes it easier for my readers to find content later on. This is also a great organizational tool for me! If I am ever having a hard time coming up with a post, I just look over the category list for ideas
....
Share. I share my layouts and designs on my blog and a whole lot more. I do a lot of what is known as "enabling" which means I can show you a lot of links that will make you want to part with your money - lol! I also am great at finding fun and free stuff as well. Blog quizzes, silly stuff, recipes, and roundups...I'm much more than a scrapbook lady!
...
Smile. Yes, this is a silly one, but I try to include at least one smiley guy in each and every blog post. Sort of my signature. It just doesn't feel right without one and who couldn't use a little smile in their life? I use Smiley Central and I have to admit that I sometimes look for excuses to use some of the cutest smiley creations - lol!
So I will sign off with a smile

and I am supposed to tag a few inspirational bloggers to keep the "Be Original" project humming along.
I am going to cheat a bit and just encourage any of my readers who have a blog to take a minute and do this. You will really learn a lot about why and how you blog so it is worth your time!
Have fun!
Katie the Scrapbook Lady
