So... here is what I did in October:
What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
I really enjoyed reading Living Artfully and celebrating the artist that I am. It was also fun to read a book just for pleasure, I read a scrapbooking murder mystery called "Motif for Murder" by Laura Childs. I liked it so much that I am currently reading another one of her mysteries. All my magazines piled up, but I have high hopes to do some magazine reading in November.
What movies and/or tv shows did I watch this month?
I watched more tv than I usually do. We bought my son the Mork and Mindy season one DVD set for his birthday so I have watched about 10 episodes of that silly old show. We also watched a few episodes of "Whose Line is it Anyway" and I have to say that I have seen a couple of "Sports Center" shows and some football coverage as well. My husband and daughter love football season!
As far as movies go, we did go to "Open Season" which was better than I thought it would be.
Oh, and a bunch of youtube videos! These are my favorites:
citibank babe magnet commercial
and a few new ones to share...
Napoleon Dynamite on David Letterman
and this one is pretty funny also... The Love Boat
What special days did I celebrate and how?
My son turned 13. Wow! Having a teenager in the house makes me feel old, don't know how that happened so fast!
Halloween was a big celebration as well. My daughter was a Pittsburgh Steelers cheerleader and my hubby was "The Bus" (Jerome Bettis) Hubby is not usually too keen on dressing up, but was more than willing this year since I ordered him this:
my daughter wore this cute outfit
can you believe I still don't have any pictures of them dressed up together? Don't worry though, I will soon! and yes, I know they aren't having a very good season, but a real fan stays true to the team anyway!
I went to my daughter's school Halloween parade and class party. My son was so pleased that he didn't have to do anything for Halloween this year! No parades or class parties since he is homeschooled and he was thrilled that he didn't have to dress up or go trick-or-treating. He really has never liked any of that!
We also went to my sister-in-laws house later that night for chili and scones. Yum!
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
The kids both had colds at the beginning of the month, but nothing that required antibiotics. Hubby ended the month with a cold and somehow I avoided all of the germs and stayed healthy! Thank you to Airborne again!
What fun things did I do with my friends and/or family?
We really had a lot of fun this month as a family. We went to a play called "Mission Incredibles", and had fun at a pumpkin farm. We ate at Iggy's sports bar and grill one night and watched Monday night football there. At the end of the evening a lady came up to our table and said "I couldn't help but watch your family tonight because you are all so sweet to each other. Your kids are just adorable." Isn't that nice? I had to think back over what might have made her say that, and nothing in particular came to mind. I guess that makes it a bigger compliment because we were just hanging out and being ourselves. Nice to remember the good days because there has to have been plenty of times someone watched us in a restaurant and shook their head in disbelief at some of the stuff that went on at our table! LOL!
What new foods, recipes or restaurants did I try this month?
I would have to say my cooking inspiration reached an all time low in October! I'm lucky I have such a patient husband that doesn't complain about food. :) We ate a lot of very simple meals like sandwiches, leftovers, and take out. Going to do better in November.
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
A lot of purchases! I actually bought some clothes for myself (a rare event) and I bought some cube shelves, baskets and magnet boards for my new studio. Oh, and my studio got finished on Halloween! I am now finishing the putting together stages and I promise to share photos soon. My husband also got his new office and we bought a desk and 2 bookshelves for him at Pier 1. They are very cool!
What were this month’s disappointments?
My brother was badly burned in a fire. He spent a week in the hospital and also made 2 trips to the emergency room. My Dad spent about 16 days in Texas taking care of him. He is still healing and has to go to a wound clinic several times a week for care. So hard to think of him going through all of this and to not be able to do anything to help him. I did talk to him almost every day on the phone which has been nice.
What were my accomplishments this month?
October was a good month for me creatively. I designed for a collaborative kit at A Cherry on Top and also released several new products. I contributed designs to 4 different charity kits. I completed 21 digital layouts and posted an article about heritage scrapbooking.
Anything else noteworthy to record?
probably, but my brain is too tired to think of anything right now!
I still need to get my photos and stuff organized from the month but that will have to come tomorrow.
and there's the month of October rounded up!
I have already made a list of what I want to accomplish in November and so I'm feeling ready to enjoy this new month! Hope you are also :)
