What a great month we had this June! We reached some big milestones as a family and I feel like we had a lot of opportunities to enjoy our time together and have some fun.
Here's my ROUNDUP of June:
What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
The Other Bolelyn Girl which ended up being a little too much "romance novel" (and more dirty) than I thought it would be. Sort of a dissapointment but it did refresh my interest in British history. I think I will try to find a good historical biography about Anne Bolelyn and perhaps even one about the other wives of Henry VIII. That is such an interesting time in England's history and I loved studying about it when I was in college.
I re-read The Broker by John Grisham - actuallyI listened to it in the car. I really enjoy this one on audio book because it is fun to hear all the spoken Italian. This is quite different than Grisham's other novels, but I really like it.
Speaking of which... I'm going to be learning Italian along with my children. I'm very excited about this! I bought this language cd set to get us started.
We didn't do a "Genius of the Month" for June - too busy and we decided to get going on it for July.
I didn't read any magazines so now I have a huge pile to go through!
What movies and/or tv shows did I watch this month?
We went movie crazy this month!
Went to Nacho Libre (weird and funny!) CARS (cute!) and Garfield (kids loved it but I didn't)
I hardly watched any tv this month. Just the National Spelling Bee and a couple of episodes of The X's with my kids (funny!) Patrick Warburton (Puddy) does the voice of the Dad and he always cracks me up!
What special days did I celebrate and how?
June is a total man holiday month in our family! My Dad, Husband, and Brother in Law all have birthdays in June, and then there's Father's Day also. Lot of manliness this past month!
My son graduated from his autism school program and we are now embarking on our homeschool venture.
My daughter finished 3rd grade. My baby is going to be a 4th grader!
To celebrate the last day of school for both my kids and my husband's birthday we went and hung out The Gateway for the afternoon and ate dinner at the Happy Sumo - yum!
What illnesses or health concerns did I have in June?
I had one day where I had a terrible headache (I think it was probably a migraine but I've never had one before) and I had one day of sick tummy stuff. Other than that I was healthy. I started exercising more (walking) and I've been wearing a pedometer and trying to take 10,000 steps a day. Most days I actually get close to that without even doing much different in my schedule. I dieted and even tried the Special K challenge for a week (that was a long week) I have cut way back on my eating in general. I didn't lose one single pound though! I never do and so I always get mad and quit trying. I am going to stay with it though. I guess even if I stay "chunky" I will be healthier for eating right and exercising.
What fun things did I do with my friends and/or family?
Besides all the other stuff I listed above, we went bowling, miniature golfing and out to eat a couple of times as a family. Went to the bookstore a couple of times, Build a Bear and Best Buy. We sort of lived it up this month which was kind of fun!
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
Spot Bot to clean up after my dog!
Wood & Sheetrock for our basement - YAY!
I upgraded to Digital Image Suite 2006 but I really haven't used the newer features yet. I still need to play around some more and get familiar with them. I wasn't going to upgrade but then I found out about the black & white advanced features and I was sold!
2 pairs of these cute Sketchers that are soooo comfy! Now I want them in every color!
now if you know me, you know that I HATE shoe shopping with a passion! So if I actually found 2 new and cute pairs of shoes - that is pretty special!
What were June's disappointments?
pretty much just the weight loss thing.
